3/9/15: Howie Kendrick drives in a run with a double to center field in the top of the 7th inning
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Except for the gratuitous designated hitter for a National League Spring Training game, Don Mattingly used a Dodgers lineup on Monday that should resemble the one he’ll use much of the regular season.
At the top was Jimmy Rollins, who tripled and doubled. Yasiel Puig, batting third, slugged his first homer of the spring. Howie Kendrick doubled in a run, Andre Ethier singled in a run and Scott Van Slyke had an RBI single off the bench. Ethier threw a runner out at the plate from left field, and Puig appeared to do the same from right field, but he didn’t get the umpire’s call.

Rollins said he likes Mattingly’s Spring Training routine for veterans, playing two games, then getting one off to work on fundamentals.
“It helps get your feet underneath you,” said Rollins, the new Dodgers shortstop. “I just want to get my timing back in Spring Training and you get days off and it lets your body rest.”
The box score will be very unkind to Dodgers reliever Brandon League, who was charged with all five San Francisco runs, even though he induced four ground balls. Three of the runs charged to League scored with Carlos Frias on the mound.
Frias allowed two hits and two walks, while Chris Hatcher and Yimi Garcia restored order with perfect innings of relief.
