Rooney missed England’s 4-2 friendly defeat in Sweden this week with an ankle injury, while Van Persie did not take part in Netherlands’ 0-0 draw with Germany due to a thigh strain.
Ferguson, who iterated his intention to start Javier Hernandez at Carrow Road after his match-winning performance at Aston Villa last week, has indicated that only the Dutchman has made a recovery.
“There is a doubt about Wayne, but Robin should be fit,” he said on Friday morning.
Jonny Evans is also battling to recover in time for the game, with Ferguson adding: “We’ll see what they are like today but there is a doubt.”
However, Chris Smalling is available again, and Ferguson was able to report positive news on Phil Jones, who has not played since sustaining a knee injury ahead of the current campaign.
“Phil Jones has been training all week,” he said. “We will take him to Turkey [to play Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday] with us. He’ll get part of it there, which is a good start for him.”
