Weeks after scoring his first number-one album on the Billboard charts with Mandatory Fun and showering the Internet with priceless parody videos, the singer surprised fans with an Emmys performance.
“Weird Al” sauntered on stage with a crew of dancers to give his signature parody treatment to the theme songs of the Best Drama Series nominees. Homeland was called out for ugly crying, while Mad Men was treated to a song about drinking and poor office behavior. But it was Game of Thrones that got the most zings, including Andy Sandberg doing his best, twerpy Joffrey impersonation and an appearance by George R.R. Martin.
Viewers were quick to react online, with some heralding “Weird Al” as the savior of the Emmys, while others saw it as the perfect opportunity to take a bathroom break.
