J.K. Rowling enthralled fans of all ages with the Harry Potter series, but now the Edinburgh-based author is at work on a novel aimed specifically toward adults and which Little, Brown will publish in the U.S. and U.K.In typical Rowling fashion however, additional details of the book, including its title, release date and subject matter, are not being disclosed.
"Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world," Rowling, 46, said in a statement released by Little, Brown.
"The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life."
Rowling's most recent work was 2007's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the best-selling fantasy series. In all, 450 million Potter books have been sold, in 74 languages.
