El gobierno venezolano acusó hoy a los medios de comunicación privados de actuar de manera 'irresponsable' al informar sobre una presunta contaminación del agua en los principales embalses de este país sudamericano.La fiscal general, Luisa Ortega, dijo este jueves a la televisora estatal que ninguna de las noticias presentadas por los medios se sustentan en datos técnicos ''y lo están haciendo para generar una matriz de opinión negativa, no para ayudar a la población''.
''Si tú dices que algo está ocurriendo y es incierto, ¿qué puedes generar?, un conflicto y caos'', dijo Ortega un día después que un tribunal dictó una medida cautelar que exige a los medios actuar con extrema responsabilidad en la difusión de noticias sobre el agua.
La medida surge luego que la Fiscalía General abrió una averiguación penal contra los medios de comunicación venezolanos por los informes sobre el agua ''sin sustento en datos técnicos''.
El presidente Hugo Chávez exhortó hace 2 días a la fiscal general y al Tribunal Supremo ''a cumplir sus responsabilidades'' y actuar contra los opositores que denuncian la presunta contaminación del agua, lo que calificó de 'campaña de terror'.
El gobernador del central estado Carabobo, Henrique Salas, exigió hace unos días al gobierno declarar la emergencia del sistema de aguas en los estados Carabobo, Aragua, Distrito Capital y Miranda porque las redes no están garantizando que el agua sea potable.
La polémica fue calificada por el mandatario como una 'guerra sucia' de la oposición rumbo a las elecciones presidenciales del 7 de octubre próximo en las que contendrá con el candidato opositor, Henrique Capriles, en busca de un tercer mandato.
Las denuncias sobre la calidad del agua se iniciaron tras la ruptura de una tubería que esparció crudo sobre el río Guarapiche, en el oriental estado de Monagas, el 4 de febrero pasado.
La ruptura dejó sin agua a Maturín, capital de Monagas, durante 45 días y redundó en la expulsión del gobernador de Monagas, José Briceño, del oficialista Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela, al negarse a abrir un grifo de suministro de agua porque era potable.
