CARSON -- Only one alum of an NCAA Final Four school on the Galaxy roster, and he hasn't been talking any smack in the locker room. We asked midfielder Mike Magee what he'd heard from Louisville grad Kenney Walker.
“Kenney? No, why?” Magee replied. “Did he go to Louisville? I didn't know that. … Guess I answered your question.”Walker, a rookie midfielder, isn't exactly pulling for the Cardinals.
“I'm a big Ohio State fan, being from [suburban] Cleveland,” he said. “Hopefully, Louisville and Ohio State make the final. But if they do, then I've got to go with Ohio State over my alma mater. Hate to say it.”
Ohio State meets Kansas in one semifinal Saturday in New Orleans, and Louisville takes on archrival Kentucky in the other.
“Even though we're in Louisville, there's so many more UK fans in Louisville than Louisville fans,” Walker said. “The rivalry is out of control down there. It would be fun to be down there for the game.”
Walker saw a lot of Louisville basketball while on campus.
“I saw the last game at Freedom Hall [two years ago], where we had a 'white-out' against Georgetown,” he said. “We actually clinched the title there, for the Big East. And then the KFC Yum Center is incredible. It's pretty much like an NBA arena.”
