The Parks and Recreation star – and everyone’s favorite Golden Globes co-host – hit the NOKIA Theatre stage twice during the 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night.
First, host Seth Meyers welcomed his former Saturday Night Live costar up to the stage as, well,
“I am honored to announced the first award of the evening: best onscreen orgasm in a Civil War reenactment,” Poehler quipped, before presenting Modern Family actor Ty Burrell with his outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series hardware. Poehler joined Meyers for some more banter reminiscent of their Weekend Update co-anchor days to welcome presenters (and True Detective nominees) Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Because, as Poehler put it, “they’re getting a lot of play time,” the two prepared a bevy of introductions from which to choose. Between chiding Meyers for using the phrase “making love” and cracking a pot joke, Poehler made her way through some show-stealing one-liners – like “Please welcome two men who also have no idea what happened at the end of True Detective ” and “Please welcome two gentlemen who seem like they’d be chatty in the sack” – before settling on greeting the A-listers as “the only actors in Hollywood not rumored to be starring in season 2 of True Detective.”
