Thankfully, the judges started where they left off – with an overwhelmed Adam Brock, who insisted through tears, "I have to sing. It's where my joy comes from. It's how I know God blessed me."
After an emotional episode that had Jennifer Lopez saying, "Glad that s–– is over," the names of the contestants who will take the stage next week in season 11's first live shows were revealed.

Although the vote was not unanimous, Adam made it through.
Up next was Jeremy Rosado, who clearly won a fan in Jennifer, who shared her impressions: "That's a nice kid right there. What a nice boy. I like him. He's so sweet," she said. "There is no way we wouldn't want you in the top 24 this year. ... It was unanimous."
Shannon Magrane, who forgot her lyrics in the group round, was given another chance. "I won't let you guys down. I promise. I swear," she told the judges.
Skylar Laine, Hallie Day and Chase Likens were told their good news in quick succession.
Aaron Marcellus, who was in the top 40 of season 10 but didn't make it, heard Jennifer say, "Just like last year, I fought for you. This year I won."
Deandre Brackensick, whose curls are as impressive as his falsetto, is also a returning contestant. "We could see your confidence had grown. We could see your voice had grown," Jennifer said. "We'd be crazy, crazy people if we didn't ask you to be in the top 24."
With only two spots left, one more girl and one more guy would make it through. The judges called Ariel Sprague, Hollie Cavanagh and Shelby Tweten out together and revealed that Hollie would be the one.
And they did the same for the final spot with friends David Leathers, Jr. and Eeben Franckewitz.
"You both have very special voices," Jennifer told them. Steven Tyler said David was overconfident while Eben was underconfident. In the end, David was cut and Eben made it through.
"Eben is a great guy," David said. "He deserves it. I'm devastated but this is not going to stop me. I'm definitely going to come back next year."
Or next week?
At the end of the episode, host Ryan Seacrest said the judges felt compelled to invite a previously eliminated male contestant back to compete for viewers' votes.
Find out who it is on Tuesday, when the top 13 guys sing live, followed by the top 12 girls on Wednesday and an elimination show on Thursday.
