And the stakes were high: There are only 10 spots on this summer's Idols Live Tour.
So who was in the bottom and who was in the top? And did the judges use their only save of the season? Keep reading to find out ...
Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips, Skylar Laine and Elise Testone, who all received rave reviews from the judges this week, were called to the front of the stage at the top of the hour. And all – except Elise, who also fell to the bottom last week – were declared safe.
After Demi Lovato performed "Give Your Heart a Break," the results continued – and Colton Dixon, Deandre Brackensick and Jessica Sanchez were told they'd be on tour this summer. But Shannon Magrane, who tackled Mariah Carey's "One Sweet Day" on Wednesday, was told she was in the bottom three.
Season 5 rocker Chris Daughtry's band then took the stage to perform "Outta My Head" before Hollie Cavanagh and Heejun Han found out they were safe (and going on tour!), and Erika Van Pelt joined Shannon and Elise.
"I'm not happy with the bottom three, especially when someone has a performance like Elise had last night. I don't think it's fair," Jennifer Lopez said. "Great performances should be rewarded."
Then, Ryan told Elise she was indeed safe.
For the final results, the contestant with the lowest amount of votes was Shannon. And the judges declined to use their save, so the 16-year-old is heading home to Tampa, Fla.
"Thank you guys so much because you guys have been so loyal to me and so honest with me," Shannon said to her fans and to the judges. "I just want to say it feels so good standing on this stage."
