Highlights: Juventus 4-0 Lazio
Juventus boss Antonio Conte is confident the Bianconeri’s 4-0 Super Cup victory over Lazio on Sunday has his side prepared for another record breaking season in Italy.
APGianluigi Buffon lifts the Supercoppa trophy.
The Italian champions easily disposed of the Coppa Italia holders, with Paul Pogba, Giorgio Chiellini, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Carlos Tevez on the score sheet.
There were doubts over Juventus’ ability to defend the Scudetto after they failed to win a pre-season match, but all concerns were quickly allayed as the Old Lady picked up Italy’s first piece of silverware for the season.
Conte has made his objectives clear, insisting Juve are in a strong position to repeat last year’s double of the Serie A and Italian Super Cup.
“In the Press Conference yesterday I said I was relaxed because I know my players and above all what they are like as men,” Conte told Rai Sport. “I knew we’d face this one-off match in the right way. It is one game, there is no tomorrow and you have to do it today.
“We continue to write history, these players put in a great performance and it was a deserved victory. Don’t forget we only actually lost one match in 90 minutes (in pre-season), against LA Galaxy. We know that we still have to shake off the heavy pre-sesaon training work, but we deserved the win and I’m very happy.
“Last year we won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup. I’d be happy to repeat that this year.”
