El ex gobernador de Florida, Jeb Bush, otorgó hoy su apoyo político a Mitt Romney para la nominación presidencial republicana e instó al partido a poner fin a las divisiones internas y unirse en respaldo del aspirante."Ahora es el momento para los republicanos a unirse detrás del gobernador Romney y llevar nuestro mensaje de conservadurismo fiscal y de creación de empleo a todos los votantes este otoño", dijo Bush en un comunicado anunciando su apoyo.
"Nos enfrentamos a enormes desafíos", añadió Bush, quien discrepa con Romney en materia de migración.
"Y necesitamos un líder que entiende la economía, que reconoce que una mayor regulación del gobierno no es la solución, que cree en el capitalismo empresarial y trabaja para asegurar que todos los estadunidenses tengan la oportunidad de tener éxito", añadió.
El ex gobernador de Florida siempre se ha pronunciado por una reforma migratoria integral y Romney mantiene una retórica a favor de la de cerrar oportunidades a los indocumentados y obligarlos a la auto deportación.
Bush se abstuvo de apoyar a Romney durante su campaña en las primarias de Florida hace casi dos meses, al señalar entonces que el ex gobernador de Massachusetts no había demostrado que era el aspirante más fuerte a la candidatura republicana.
El apoyo de Bush, hijo y hermano de ex presidentes, se da un día después de que Romney triunfó en Illinois para consolidar su liderazgo en la carrera por la nominación republicana a la Casa Blanca.
Bush es el más reciente de los influyentes líderes políticos del país en otorgar su apoyo público a Romney y se espera que otros dirigentes republicanos lo hagan en los próximos días.
