The hair parade continues across the pond.Elizabeth, a Lhasa Apso, won Best in Show at Crufts, the U.K. equivalent of Westminster Kennel Club's annual dog show. She follows in the paw prints of Westminster's equally hairy winner, Malachy the Pekingese.
The 7-year-old champion, owned by handler Margaret Anderson, took the title on Sunday night. Smiling behind her lush blonde locks, Elizabeth posed with the glistening silver trophy presented to her after her victory lap.
Lhasa Apsos originated in Tibet, and were bred to be guard dogs for Buddhist monasteries and homes of the Tibetan nobility.
A distinct characteristic of the breed is its independence. Additionally, according to the American Kennel Club, Lhasa Apsos are "joyful and mischievous, dignified and aloof."
