Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Blade Runner actress Sean Young reportedly clashed with a security guard at the Governors Ball following Sunday night's Oscar ceremony and found herself ejected from the event. After allegedly arguing with the guard over taking photos at the entrance to the ball – and not having a ticket for admittance – the actress, 52, was placed under citizens' arrest by another member of the security force and then removed by police and booked for battery, reports TMZ.
The incident was said to have occurred around 1:45 in the morning, and TMZ says Young slapped a guard who may have placed a hand on her.
During the entire Oscar show, Young was in the first floor lobby of the Hollywood and Highland Center, taking pictures with nearly every person she met, PEOPLE observed.
After her removal from the ball, Young seemed to blamed the incident on an attorney for the Academy Awards, telling TMZ in a short video filmed as she is leaving the police station shortly after 6 a.m. Monday, "The Academy's lawyer ... recommended that a private person's arrest be made. And I was standing outside ... waiting and seeing friends that were going up to the Governors Ball. So what this really means is the Academy recommends that its lawyers recommend that they be carted off to spend four hours at the Hollywood police station. Shame on [them] for that."
This was not the first skirmish that has involved Young, who in January 2008 voluntarily entered rehab for alcoholism. Her rep told PEOPLE at the time: "It is understood that Young has struggled against the disease for many years."
The week before, she had caused a scene at the Directors Guild of America Awards by heckling winner Julian Schnabel during his acceptance speech. She was later removed.
In spring 2006, Entertainment Weekly recounted her attempt to crash the Vanity Fair Oscar party by trying to sneak in behind Jennifer Aniston. This too got Young escorted out.
