DC Comics surprised fans with a close-up shot of the Caped Crusader at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, showing a shadowy Ben Affleck wearing the superhero’s famous black mask.
Affleck, 41, is suiting up opposite Henry Cavill for 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The actors have been busy filming the flick in Detroit.
The photo is part of a montage wall celebrating the Dark Knight’s 75th anniversary. The first day of the convention saw lots of buzz about a possible Batman stunt in the coming days: Warner Brothers, the studio behind the movie, presents its slate Saturday morning in Hall H.
Director Zack Snyder Tweeted the first glimpse of Affleck in costume in May, posting a moody, black-and-white still.
“Every kid should see their dad as a superhero,” Affleck, a father of three, told Jimmy Fallon in September of snagging the role. “It’s so awesome and I’m so excited.”
