LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers lost a ninth-inning challenge Thursday night and Clayton Kershaw lost his chance for back-to-back shutouts.
With runners on the corners and two outs, Justin Upton hit a slow roller to third baseman Juan Uribe, whose throw to first was ruled late by umpire Mike Estabrook as B.J. Upton scored Atlanta’s first run, cutting the Dodgers lead to 2-1.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly asked for a crew chief review, but the call would stand, with pinch-runner Jordan Schafer safe at second and Justin Upton at first.
Kershaw got the next batter, Evan Gattis, to ground out to end the game, settling for a complete-game and a 2-1 Dodgers win.
