3/18/15: Sergio Santos strikes out four batters in his 7th-inning appearance against the Cubs
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Bullpen reclamation projects Sergio Santos and Mike Adams gave the Dodgers a little more to think about in the deep competition for roster spots.
Santos had a busy seventh inning in the Dodgers’ 7-5 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday, with four strikeouts, a run on two hits, a wild pitch and an errant throw.
Adams had a 1-2-3 sixth inning with a strikeout, in contrast to the two walks and a run he allowed in his first outing, which lasted only two-thirds of an inning.
How bad was that one?
“When I got home, my little boy told me I wasn’t a very good pitcher,” Adams said. “He was legitimately mad at me. I thought I had it rough in Philly.”
Liberatore’s great pick

Adams, once a lights-out setup man in San Diego, is coming off a string of injuries suffered while pitching in Philadelphia.
Santos, meanwhile, said he was happy with all three of his pitches and considered it a very good day as he continues to show that he’s completely healthy after elbow problems last year. Santos and Adam Liberatore (who pitched a scoreless fifth inning Wednesday) lead the club with five appearances each.
“I came here as prepared as I could,” he said. “I didn’t want to be seen as a rehab pitcher. I’m healthy, and today I had a good feel for all three of my pitches.”
