The pair first clash at Busch Stadium, home to the St Louis Cardinals, on May 23 and tickets for the game at the ground of the 2011 World Series champions sold out in 20 minutes.
The May 25 match will be the third football game to be played at Yankee Stadium, with a fourth planned as the Republic of Ireland face world and European champions Spain on June 11.
Chelsea have already played in the Bronx, drawing 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain last August, and chief executive Ron Gourlay said: “We were delighted to take part in the first ever football game there, and we received sensational support in what was a sea of blue fans inside and outside the stadium that day.
“Spending the week in St Louis and New York also provides a great opportunity for the club to reconnect with our US fans before we head to Asia in July for pre-season. America has long been an important place for Chelsea Football Club, and we have seen first-hand the continued rise of the game’s popularity.”
City will be making their third trip in four years to North America, and their chief executive Ferran Soriano said: “Since City’s visit to the United States in 2010, our relationship with North American fans has continued to grow. We are enthusiastic believers in the development of soccer in the US and have seen first-hand the passion that North American supporters have for the beautiful game. We are delighted to bring City to their doorstep.”
It is set to be a busy period for the players of both clubs with the Premier League only finishing on May 19, and England internationals back in Europe to face the Republic of Ireland on May 29.
It has been reported that Chelsea’s interim manager Rafa Benitez, who is set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, is willing to stay in charge for their American tour.
